I also fold my sweaters up to a length suitable for the kilt.

As for sporrans, most of them are decorative as well as a nuisance. I tend to leave mine at home half of time. In the cold months, which is when I wear sweaters, I've always got other pockets available anyway.

I like the Arran style sweaters with the kilt, they have the semi-elastic band around the bottom. I have never tried the fold-under method, but I will try it the next time I wear that sweater. Thanks for the great hint.

It's amazing what we learn here.

When you wash your sweaters block them short and pull the arms to length it works great for me. When I wash the sweater I also use hair conditioner in my final rinse helps to soften the wool. I do this for all my sweaters. Refuse to send them and have them ruined at the drycleaners. They come back dry and smelling like chemicals. Most hair conditioners have a much better smell.

I fold (or slight "bunching") at the bottom of the sweater. Another vote here for the "Woolly Pully" sweaters (British commando sweater). They look great with kilts and are WARM!

    Cheers

"my sweaters seem to be to long to wear with my SWK and tank. No problems with my UKs and PK, just the traditionals."

    SWK, tank, UK, PK...huh???

My favorite sweaters are a very thick and heavy wooly thing my brother brought back for me from Scotland with leather shoulder and elbow patches, and a black English made V-neck uniform sweater with nylon shoulder & elbow patches and epaulettes (similar to USCG issue). Never had a problem wearing with a kilt, sporran, etc.

Probably a very good idea to go over the whole thing while you are at it.
