Great piccies Hamish - I remember my visit to Arundel a few years back.
You put Piers for Brighton - I thought that only the Palace pier was left now?

Hamish,
Is that a Nightstalker sporran you're wearing with the Cornish National?
Best regards

Well now, MacH, that depends upon what you have in your hand!! Seriously, just let me know when.

Strictly speaking you are correct, McC. It is one pier, and a mass of twisted, rusting metal! The latter, the West Pier, was mostly destroyed in a fire at about the time that "Oh, What a Lovely War" was being filmed on it. A charitable trust was set up to rebuild and restore it to its full Edwardian glory but, about five years ago, another fire swept through what remained and, since then winter storms have practically demolished the skeletal metal structure. As far as I know, the Trust has been closed down and all further hopes of the rebuild foresaken.
The Palace Pier has been renamed The Brighton Pier by its owners, but locally it is still known by its former name!

It is indeed, Steve, and very good it is too! I do have a Cornish sporran (with the fifteen brass bezzants), but it does not hold everything I need with me when I am not wearing a jacket with pockets!

I think you mean the Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust, David. No we had very little time at our disposal and, besides, I am not absolutely certain that it is open on weekdays at this time of year; I know the castle closes to the public during the winter months. Confession: I have never visited the W&WT myself!
When (and if) I get around to organising a summer 'Kilts Weekend' based on Storrington, we can take in many places such as Arundel, and perhaps Chichester, Portsmouth and Brighton too.
