I'm on a "protein sparing modified fast."
Zero carbs. Not just low carbs... NONE. I'm also on limited portions of other foods - no "unlimited protein," for example.
Currently I'm eating 15 ounces of protein a day, and 14 ounces of vegetables, LOTS of water to flush the ketones, and multiple vitamin supplements (prescription).
I have blood drawn every two weeks to check electrolyte balances.
It's a pretty severe diet - but I started it on Nov 14. I'd lost about 25 lbs on my own, and I wasn't happy with it. So, I talked to my doctor, he referred me to Dr. Sophia Fountis (http://www.chiro-medcenters.com/) and I started the diet the day after I got back from my honeymoon. -33 lbs since then.

First, I'd like to extend my congratulations. I know how much effort it takes to accomplish what you've done.
Normally I wouldn't step into a discussion of this sort, but this appears to be such an extreme case.
I respectfully recommend you do not sell your kilts and belts just yet. Please note that the key word in that sentence is "respectfully."
There is very little likelihood that the diet you describe could be considered a sustainable lifestyle change unless the diet was undertaken in response to a (rather severe) medical condition. The overwhelming odds are that sooner or later you will experience fatigue - a perfectly natural reaction - with the extreme efforts required to at first reduce, and then to maintain your weight using that approach.
Again, this post is submitted with utmost respect for your personal judgment of your medical and dietary requirements. I apologize if you have already addressed these issues; please disregard this post.

This should clear that up...
BP 170/110, triglycerides three times "normal."
Doc hasn't changed the meds yet, and I'm currently holding a daily average of 100/65. He says I'll probably be off the Benicar in a month.
It came down to rolling the numbers on my likelihood for heart problems and/or adult-onset diabetes, and I didn't like the results. Not at all.
I'm going to be doing my level best not to exceed 190lbs for the rest of my life.

No bad news there at all... The weight coming off means you'll be around longer to enjoy your new wardrobe!

fantstic Caradoc! The difference is very noticable. Not just around the waist, but also slimmer through your face. Looking good.
I'd also like to know what type of diet/exercise program you're following.
Keep up the good work and keep us posted on your progress.

I'll add to the number of people who want to know what diet you're using. I can't exercise much anymore, because of a lot of health problems. Couple that with the fact that I don't have much money and eating cheaply tends to be eating fatteningly and you come up with the fact that I'm now about 330lbs. So please let us in on your secret!
