Mexpiper --- You were right! My boyfriend and I had origianlly planned to put everyone in differnt tartans related to each of our attendants families. We couldn't find true tartans in the LA fabricdistrict, but we found a great wool blend green/yellow/red plaid. We decided to buy just one fabric and put both grooms, both best men and both ring boys in the same thing. Since we needed 30 yards (OK I probably could have done it with about 22, but the clerk offered such a great deal on 30 it gives me the slop to completly mess up sewing a kilt and not run out of fabric -- plus we also wanted to make father of the grooms neck ties and maybe mother of the grooms scarfs). So for about $200 I have the material to make the kilts. Now I just have to make them. My Boyfriend's Best man's will be first, then my best man, then me, then my boyfriend.... and the ring boys just 2 weeks before (they are 3 1/2 and 4 and growing like weeds -- I fear if I don't wait until the last minute they won't fit the kilt I build).

Thanks to everyone.... I'm sure I'll have questions and pics to post as this goes along!

    Cheers
    Chris

Per request, the swatch of the fabric we bought can be found here (althogh, to my mind, the "background" that my partner created is a better representation (color wise) of the fabric:

Wow is that a nice bright colour. You should get married 17 Mar. with that kilt. It is real close to SWK Irish National except for the Red. No one will miss you guys.

The nice thing about that tartan is that it will show up on film nicely. Too many green based tartans wash out on film.
