I've been all over the Niagara area both sides of the border and had very positive feedback... esp. from the ladies. Niagara on the Lake is a wonderful (but expensive) little town. I highly recommend the park at Goat Island as well. The Table Rock area at the horseshoe seems to be a haven for attractive kilt loving women in the warm weather. If you like a bit of walking... the Niagara Glenn park in the gorge is well worth the effort. Anywhere but Clifton Hill (which I consider an abomination) is a good place to strut your kilts at Niagara.
As many times as I've been to the Niagara area, it always seems special going back there.

MacHummel from CCK is from the Niagara area and still has family there. It helps give him a place to stay when visiting and doing the Fort Erie celtic fest in Sept. He knows whats it's like growing up in a tourist town. As expensive it is for the tourists it's not cheap to live there either. The inflated prices for things make it an expensive place to live but a fun place to visit.
I'm sure he knows a few places to have fun on the cheap. Maybe his past there drove him to Fergus!!!!!. I may have to dig a little.

I totally agree with that statement. I was there about 3 years ago. My cuz from California was visiting prior to shipping out to Iraq. He never had been east before. He said he wanted to see Niagaria Falls. It used to be fun with the wax museums. We all stood and looked with open mouths, could not believe how ugly it looked and it was actually dirty ( I did not think dirt existed in Canada!!). We told him sorry, we did not know it would look like this. We did do the behind the falls tour, i had never done it either and it was great!!
I will have to check out the gorge sometime! I don't mind walking at all...

I have to agree with Rick's comment about the acceptance here in Canada. I have worn my kilt with nary a negative glance! (Even at a small town fall fair!)
Niagara on the Lake is a beautiful place, and you can spend lots of time (and money) there. The Falls, on the other hand, has changed a lot since I was a kid. Clifton Hill was always flashy, but nothing like the mini-Vegas that they are putting on now! The Niagara Parks Commission does a great job all along the Niagara River. Come up and check it out! If we get a few people together, I am only an hour away and will gladly make the trek to raise a pint with some fellow XMarkers!

Sounds like a plan Stan - perhaps when the Spring thaw comes.

I have been to Niagara on the Lake twice and both times unkilted!
Next time I will be kilted!
But it's a lovely little town where you can watch the black squirrels and the grey squirrels duke it out in the park!
