What kind of kilt are you planning? Having lived quite a few years in the Florida panhandle, I'd advise a fairly light weight kilt along the Suwannee. (Don't go for too light, or it'll look like something the cat slept in. . . and maybe did other things to.)
And I've found that a short-cleeved khaki shirt makes for a serviceable and dashing topper to the kilt.
