Looking forward to meeting you. Thursday would work great for me. It's St. David's day (something to drink to!) The Argonaut is a nice hotel but it's right in the middle of a major tourist spot. The places Mark recommends are better venues for local atmosphere. I'm always up for Rickenbacker's Saloon. House of Shields usually has live music. The elegant Pied Piper Bar is just across the street in the Palace Hotel. All these are easier get to via BART. Out-of-towners avoid driving into S.F. and Fisherman's Wharf is a difficult trip after work. Pity you'll miss the WonderCon convention the following weekend.

WalkerK suggested meeting in the lobby of the Palace Hotel around 5:30 and setting out from there. I plan to take the tram line. Market and what street? Ill keep checking in to see if anything changes. Sure would like to get a good rabble up.

OK - Here's the plan so far:

Around 5:30 meet in the lobby of the Palace Hotel near the Pied Piper (way overpriced ) bar.

For Turpin : Take the F streetcar ( http://www.sfmta.com/cms/mrider/histcars.htm ) from the Jones Street (Fisherman's Wharf) turnaround to Market & New Montgomery Street (between 2nd and 3rd) http://www.sfmta.com/cms/mmaps/documents/F.pdf Fare is $1.50 in exact change and get a free transfer slip from the driver for the return trip. (Handy tip: avoid looking like a tourist by remembering to step down on the treadle step when exiting to open the rear doors of the car.) Everyone else: Take BART or MUNI to Montgomery Street.

When everyone is together we can go directly across New Montgomery to the House of Shields. http://www.houseofshields.com/

Then on to Eddie Rickenbacker's saloon (133 Second Street) for a steak and a look at the motorcycle collection.

After that we can go around the corner (579 Howard Street) to Kate O'Briens.
