Thanks for letting us on the "other side of the pond" share your trip.

You wrote "The trip was a send off for the first generation bull nosed type 3 diesel locomotives, the last of which are about to be withdrawn after nearly 50 years service."

I'm sure there are very sound economic and environmental reasons to retire these machines. But at he same time it is very sad. These engines didn't just travel West, South, East, and North. They travelled in Time. That journey is now over and all that will remain is a memory. I'm glad you got to be there for one last trip.
