It takes a lot of skill to make something like that. Nice work.

Here's the completed sheath, and several coats of linseed oil on the grip...

Nice work! A fine reproduction of one of favorite early dirks.
A suggestion: take some sheet brass and form a tip for the sheath. I've personally seen two instances of of blade points poking through the ends of leather-only sheaths and wounding their owners in the leg! Both occasions were at reenactments. One was a Scottish dirk, the other a Civil War bayonet....

Loved how the Boxwood shined up after the application of the oil. Very nice work!

Wow. Beautiful. The first two pictures on my monitor gave the entire object a bluish cast and at first I thought it was made for cobalt blue glass.

    Very nice.

    PiobBear,
My compliments on a very handsome Dirk Sir. Wear it with pride. I really admire your carving on the handle and your sheath craftsmanship.

I took a somewhat different approach when I made my most recent dirk in oak, and carried the wood right into the sheath design to avoid the possibility of the blade coming right through.

    Again my compliments.

    Capt Bruce
