I have a solid black one that I wear as I would a black suit. I put it on for theater, opera & dinners at least at the bistro level.

That's a sharp looking kilt. I see the description is "a hidden tartan" is it like the nightstalker from stillwater kilts?

    ado,

Enjoy your new kilt! I love my SWK Heavyweight black one.

Hamish summed* it up very nicely

    Stillwaters Nightstalker
is different than a hidden tartan. Their Nightstalker is the Black and Gray tartan available only in the Standard Line. Stillwaters Solid Black "Hidden-Tartan" is only available in the Heavy Weight Wool line. The hidden tartan appears to be flat solid black in some light. When the light shines across the fabric at certain angles you can begin to see variation in the weave that is a hidden tartan pattern. I'm not sure if Jerry allows linking to his photos but click this link to see a pic of it http://www.stillwaterkilts.com/heavyweightkilts.html

The black is likely to be my next purchase simply for the versatility of it.

I have 3 black kilts and I love them all. My black UK Workman is getting a lot of uses these days.

black is always great, whatever it is - kilt, car, t-shirt, suit or even mouse which I'm holding 18 hours a day (I'm graphic designer ).
black represents simplicity and style and it's good for every occasion.
my first bike was black too.

I heard yesterday evening that there is Polish Tartan for Polish people living in Scotland. I saw photo, quite nice.
is it true that in the past every reputable clan had own tartan? so what you think about Polish one and Polish people?
