I went and checked out this kilt in the store today. Very light-weight fabirc. I wouldn't wear it, but I am happy that a chain store has some form of kilt for sale!

Hmmm, let's see: a male, skirt-like garment, pleated in the back and constructed of tartan-patterned fabric. If it ain't a kilt, then what is it?!
My teenaged son is into the whole punk look, and I'd be tickled if he got himself one of these to wear. It could only lead to more traditional kilt-wearing as he got older....

Well, maybe I'm mistaken! I hadn't thought about the sports'kilt and there are always different type of ideas that have promoted it. To someone like me, just not my cup. I guess I've had a different take on it since I first posted.

It is just another execution of an age old design. I seriously doubt that the designer was designing for the traditional kilt market. They are for the people who don't follow the rules and want to have the freedom to wear what they want to wear.
Sounds familiar?

You know, we have a forum member that just bought one of these.
We should show just a little respect.
Remember gentleman... Baby steps and encouragement. If somebody wears this, and is ridiculed, do you really think that they might want to wear a kilt later? But if we encourage them and say that it is a great start, boost their confidence, and support them, don't you think they might be open to new things later? Just maybe?
We all start somewhere. And we all know different kilts for different purposes. Who's to say this wouldn't be just perfect for going out clubbing or supremely comfortable for lounging around the house? BBQing in the back yard?
People are going to put us down for what we wear no matter what... We shouldn't be putting each other down.
