I would think a white/off-white colored short-sleeved button down shirt would be fine for casual. You could even wear a cami tucked into the skirt and the button-down over it. Of course, if you are cursed as I am and are "top-heavy" this might not work. Then I would suggest a pullover vee-neck, or something simular.

I'm surprised I didn't think of this to begin with: what about asking the Wizard of BC? I'm sure he could gin up a fine accompanying shirt to go with it.

    Steve's shirt are awesome.

As far as dressing up a solid colored kilted skirt.....i'd agree that a nice white or off white blouse would be nice. Something light colored, to show off your red hair. Also, the idea of a sash would dress up the outfit that much more. A tartan that compliments the solid color of the skirt would work well.

What about something like this? This is just a cable knit hoodie sweater with a light blue undershirt.

This is a white Polo shirt with the same light blue undershirt.

I depends how long it is. If you want to wear long in tartan for parties and evening wear, then the best (understated) combination with it is a white shirt and a black waistcoat: anything looks good with those.

For something in a formal vein, a sash would work wonders. As a matter of fact Steve is in the process of making one for my Mrs., the Celtic Amazon Warbitch From Hell. It will be in the Anderson tartan of her grandfather. I'll post pics when it is done, probably after the Victoria kilt night, March 23.
