I haven't seen Brigadoon in forever. But, this thread does remind me of Singin' in the Rain (which also has Cyd Charisse).

If one ever worried about what you couldn't do while kilted because your modesty might be compromised, watch Debbie Reynolds in her pleated skirt while she, Gene Kelly, and Donald O'Connor dance their way through the song Good Morning. She dances through several rooms, onto various pieces of furnature, up and down stairs, and up and over the bar. All with her modesty intact.

Interesting how I never noticed her skirt til I started wearing a kilt.

Yeah, but remember that they had the resources to keep doing takes until they had a perfect one...not that they skirt's position would create a problem but if it did, they could use another cut. These days they'd use digital means to preserve her modesty...although these days I doubt that it would be a problem.

Also, there are a lot of tricks to keep costumes in place and to preserve modesty...I encountered a few during my "Life In The Theatre". We just saw a production of "Damn Yankees" over the weekend and one actor was (in a scene) changing in the ball club locker room...my wife and daughter inform me that he should have been wearing something under his boxers...I didn't notice this but they did. In my day we wore something like the original UnderArmor stuff under our clothes for several reasons...comfort, having to do quick changes in the wings...I'm sure that ol' Deb was wearing tights under her skirt and it could have flipped up over her head and her modesty would have been preserved.
