    I really like the ancient Buchanan and I think you should go with the brown belt and sporran I wear that with my Buchanan kilt

    Black goes well w/ my modern. I tried my browns today but I couldn't get it all to go w/ the shirt etc... Anyway, black is a good first set to have as it will go w/ everything. O'Neille

    Thanks, guys. And thanks especially, Turpin, for posting the visual. Yeah - I think black is the way to go since it is the Buchanan Modern tartan. Man I wish I'd known about the weathered and ancient tartans. Those are great looking tartans - and I would have suggested he go that route.

    Again, thanks for the input. Luckily, the Tartans Museum gift shop offers that sporran and belt in both brown and black.



    As for the volume of the tartan, it can be painful to see in bright light, but IMO it's still not as bright as Loud MacLeod...on Buchanan the red, green and blue seem to have a dulling effect on the bright, bright yellow. Of course, I've no room to criticize, what with the intense yellow and black "Barclay Bumblebee" tartan.
