AACCK! I stand corrected. They are backwards!
Oh well. Ebay here I come. (with a quick stop in Photoshop)
Box pleats next week.
Thanks for saving me future pain.

Ah, but you said you wanted to make unique items for the fair lady - how much more unique can one get?
What a great looking garment you've created! I'm certain it's a breath-taker when in "full swish."

I think that black kiltskirt is bluidy STUNNING, whichever way the pleats go.
you're intersted in pushing the edge a little bit, eh? Well then having th epleats go "the wrong way" shouldn't cause you to lose any sleep, then.
You know what I've considered doing, but no WAY do I have the time, is make a kilt with a line of custon embroidery down the edge of the over apron. I could see a long pattern of celtic knotwork there...silver would look handsome on that dress you crafted for your lady.
As it's said often enough, there' snothing new under the sun, so WHAT IF you looked into some "historical patterns" and started with modifying some of that stuff? For example, your red-haired lass would look ruddy gorgeous in that kiltskirt and a deep green and black applique'd leather/suede bustier over a black loose linen blouse....Sort of Ren Faire gone off the punk deep end.

That does look nice, regardless of pleat direction. As an aside, did you happen to work on any of Mark Wellmans' stuff? I ask because I'm making three pair of rockchaps for him and wondered if you did the first pair?If you did, cool, as I probably made the big wall harness when I was sewwing at Yates Gear. Sorry about the hijack guys but I had to ask.

Next steps
Howdy all,
We're going to try another skirt, about 3" shorter, using box pleats. To top that, we'll make a bolero jacket with the Mackenzie modern tartan. It's gonna take us a week to beat all the dust from the pleats of the first. Our first day of use was unusually dry and windy for April in northern Minnesota.
Hee hee.
