Thanks Fearnest and Panache. I ordered one, too.

I've been using essentially the same thing for nearly 2 years to carry my kilt to work each day as I ride my bicycle. Works great! Mine's made by a different company; it's called "The Kilt Roll" by Thistle of Blantyre in Scotland.
Here's a link - http://www.isa4031.freeserve.co.uk/thistle/products.htm
They say the £18.95 includes VAT & postage within the UK.
As for the US, the Scotweb Store has it for $39.03 + shipping.
With dimensions of 28" x 5½" (71cm x 14cm), it'll easily fit into a suitcase. (Also fits well underneath my bicycle seat strapped on top of my briefcase!)
I seem to recall mention in a previous post about a poor-man's version of this - rolling the kilt in a similar fashion & then sliding it into the leg of a woman's pantyhose (without the woman in it, of course! ) - 2 kilts per pantyhose. I've never had occasion to try it, but I'd be willing to "run" with it!

Is the stiffner bar metal? I rarely check luggage; I prefer to vacation with what I can stuff in my carry-on satchel.

I can't say with certainty, since the stiffner bar in mine is completely enveloped in a sealed pouch at one end of the inner cloth, however, by the sound, feel & heft of it, I'd wager it is indeed a metal bar. (And if I listen closely I can faintly hear some Metallica... )

Mine is most certainly NOT metal. It does have some "bendiness" (bendyness?) - ah, heck - flexibility, give, etc. - to it. It's stiff, but not solid.
Hope that helps!

Glad you don't have a job moulding young minds.

AHA! You've become hoist upon your own petard! It WAS my vocation, and 'tis now my avocation! (And believe me, there are SO many moldy young minds now due to my erstwhile efforts!)
(Thanks for noticing - it's always nice to be appreciated... or not!)
