Update....
Well, today was my first 'almost all day' in my first kilt. It is great, but there is a problem. The wife is not keen on this and my boys are startled. I went to visit a friend of mine today and he and his wife were very receptive to the idea. His wife even told me that I should wear it as must as possible. I stopped by my folks and they were OK with it. My mom even took a picture, but her camera is not a digital camera, so I can not use her picture to post. Anyone else had 'wife not receptive to kilt' issues?

Yep. Do a search. Expect lots of discussion with a broad spectrum of opinion. Have a look at this thread.

Update, again
I think that over time she will be OK with it. My buying old cars (and I bought another one yesterday that she wanted me to buy) and chickens do not affect her public appearance like me standing next to her in a kilt. I think that my mom not having a problem with it and my friend and his wife encouraging it helped. I probably just need to 'wear it in'. Last night my folks, wife , and I went out for ice cream at a small secluded ice cream shop. So she got to be in public with me in a kilt at a place where the traffic flow is small.
I am learning a lot by how kilt fits for insight on sizing and preferences for future kilt purchases.
By the way. This morning while getting dressed for work in put on the first bifurcated clothing since yesterday.......it just felt wrong going on.

Well, the kilt thing for my wife seems to be sloooooooowly progressing.
This evening I challenged myself and the paradigms of the local community. I arrived home from work, changed into the only good clothing made for man and went into town to stop a several stores for items on my list. It was interesting to see how people reacted. So far no one has said anything, but I am sure that there are many questions on the mind.

Well, recently little lady has twice told me that she does not 'care' if I where a kilt in public as long as she is not with me. She probably won't mind as long as someone who has seen me in public does not bring up the subject with her.

I get the same from my girlfriend. When I first got a kilt, she wouldn't let me wear it anywhere in sight of her and was genuinely appalled that I would even consider wearing it in public. It's taken her about 6 months but she has progressed to the stage where she still refuses to be seen in public with me wearing one but we can go to visit friends and relatives at their houses. Maybe in another 6 months we can go out to dinner in a dark-lit restaraunt sometime. Ironically enough, she thinks my son in his kilt is adorable.
Hopefully your woman warms to the idea quicker than mine.
