It's all finished now. A very deep polish, a good deal of waxing the bone and then three layers of varnish.
I'm quite happy with it overall.
The grain turned out really beautiful.
As did the polished, waxed bone.
And the whole thing is shiny and clean looking.
Tomorrow I'll be starting work on my very own Sgian don't bottle opener.

Nicely done Arlen. The ivy has really struck a chord with me, being the clan plant, & the spalting in the piece you chose is really brought out by the polish. Cant wait to see your next.

Oh my Arlen, that is stunning!
"A veteran, whether active duty, retired, national guard or reserve, is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to "The United States of America", for an amount of "up to and including my life." That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country who no longer understand it." anon

Well, if you want then I am more than happy to get another chunk and send it on to you.
The place where I got it has hills absolutely covered in Ivy both new and ancient.

Thank you for the compliment.
I'm going to tool my friend's initials on to the sheath and hopefully he will like it just as much.

That looks very very nice Arlen. You should be very proud. I think maybe Sgain Dubhs will be a little something for me to dabble with too. I have a work shop I'm wanting to do something in... this might work.

Thanks for the posting. That is certainly a wonderful job. Maybe, I'll give it a go!

In a democracy it's your vote that counts; in feudalism, it's your Count that votes.
