Its not a muzzle its a halter ... stops him from pulling all the time when walking. He belongs to Les n Pete .. Les is the one in hospital and Pete had to go away to work for a few days. He's as daft as a brush and really affectionate and loves a cuddle.

He looks a nice dog. I always get in trouble with my mate when I call his dog an alsatian. Is it something to do with one being hairier than the other? Nice kilt by the way.

That was my impression as well Phil. I know that the Police dogs here use are called Alsatians, not German Shepherds and they are generally hairier than my old dogs, who were German Shepherds. I always thought that they were a slightly different breed.

On the American Kennel Club website they classify the dog this way:

    German Shepherd Dog (Alsatian)

So I really do not know why it would be more proper to call him a German Shepherd. Does anyone know?

I can only think they got a bad name a while ago and I think it was because they were so popular. People started breeding them willy-nilly and the quality went down the drain. The original dog came from Alsace on the German/French border hence the name.

I didn't know that about Pete but I will remember that the next time we get together...I am affectionate and love a nice cuddle as well, although I prefer a lady...

But I am not daft as a brush...

Looks like an absolutely beautiful dog. And like he'd be great at cuddling.
