Even though I am a drinker, I often find myself doing so in places that tend to frown on sharp pointy things, so I carry a good, high power LED torch in place of a Sgian Dubh, and have had many people comment on it, mainly asking if it was a knife, and responding very positively when I informed them that it was just a flashlight.

But all this discussion has got me really curious now! Maybe I can spare an hour or more from my thesis to sew some leather together and form a pen-case in the shape of a "sgian don't"....

Actually, a sgian dubh shaped carrying case could be useful for a number of things (anything that would actually fit inside). Thanks! All I needed was another project...

The Rambo Sgian Don't kit? A case that holds fish hooks, fishing line, mini maglight, sewing needles, all that other stuff they pack into the end of a survival knife. You could even put a compass in the end...

Oh, what have I done? Now I want a sock torch too. And bringing the idea over from Arlen's thread about the sgian don't that he recently made, the thing with the flash drive would be cool too.

You know you could combine the ideas to a point....bad pun.

Have the wooden sheath conceal a pen, and in the traditional sgian handle, have the squeeze type LED light coming out the hole the pen sits inside.
