    London Gathering

Many thanks for some good photos, Hamish. Trust you to find the important people there !

I have to say that I like the "punk" kilts. They would not work on me, but if it means a punk or Goth etc can be themselves, and still wear the kilt, then it is OK with me. I have looked at Guilty Kilts and I am not convinced they were those.

Excellent pics, Hamish. I think these Gulity Kilts work well on the young guys who are wearing them and its good to see the kilt adapting to modern trends, but maybe not for our age group.

Looking at the Guilty Kilts, the first thing that entered my head was Elsie Stuehmeyer saying "A properly made kilt doesn't need a belt to hold it up - and it definitely doesn't need bib overalls! Throw that in the rubbish bin!"

And then I got to you and Alastair Mackenzie, who was wearing Archie's coat and waistcoat, Lexie's sporran, and Duncan's shoes. At least one of you looked good (and we all know which one).

If you noticed - what was the fabric of Hardeep Singh Kohli's kilt? To my eye it looks to have an odd finish if it was wool.

As usual, Hamish, you outshine them all.
Can't say I'm a big fan of the Guiltykilts, but each to their own.
    Thanks for the great pictures.

I liked Alistair MacKenzie's sporran....maybe for Valentine's day (red and white colors) or Santa Claus/Father Christmas in a kilt. Ho ho ho

And then there is University of Georgia, with its read and black colors....

What I want to know is, where did they find a horse with a tail that red? Do they breed them that way now?

Alan, I am sure Paul is correct and that these were Guilty Kilts. The 'number' second from the left, a tartan kilt with black aprons and those fancy looped chains (and curiously, the pin worn on the wrong side!), features on their website. As does the pin worn on the combat kilt (I won't mention what form it takes for fear of starting 'something' I might later regret!!)

I'll be another "neigh"-sayer to those horse hair sporrans!

As for the Guilty Kilts... well, they're well named as they're guilty of a number of infractions against good taste. The camo kilt is OK, but that overall kilt... & those tiny sporrans must be simply decorative as they look too small to hold anything more than a set of keys. And no wonder the 2nd lad from the left looks so unhappy between that teeny, off-centered sporran, his kilt pin on the wrong side of the apron & his kilt being too long!

The following verse from The Kinks' "Dedicated Follower Of Fashion" seems appropriate in this context.

And when he does his little rounds,
Round the boutiques of london town,
Eagerly pursuing all the latest fads and trends,
'Cause he's a dedicated follower of fashion.

As usual, Hamish, you are the model of kilted decorum.
