I am in the process of trying to get enough of my Brother Masons in my Lodge to get Kilted, so that we can put on a Kilted degree. For some of the degrees the ritual team would consist of 15 people.

Cost is important to people who don't have the addiction, and don't wear kilts everyday!

SWK gives them affordable kilts, but I have been at a loss as to what to do for the other assessories. Sure - I can dig into my larder and loan things out, but that is only for a short term.

I want to get these guys in kilt, so that we can put on a complete kilted degree! And when we get proficient enough, do it for other Lodges.

Thanks for these sites! It gives me more options.

Now, if I could just find a CHEAP source for dress sporrans?

The mess jacket would work great with a kilt. The main thing to remember is to swap out any military buttons and remove any insignia to wear it as a civilian jacket.

That I converted to a PC. They have some for $20-$40. The quality of the coat I got was outstanding.

I got the grey bargain bunny sporran from Kiltmart and it's perfectly adequate...they were very nice and prompt in shipping, too.

I have to force myself into looking at these sporrans as something that, really, wouldn't be used. At least I would never use one. But for someone who is only going to put on a kilt, maybe once or twice a month, I guess that they will serve, and $35.00 isn't bad!

So, each member would have to buy, kilt, SWK = $30-$40, Eaton jacket or similar = $50-$70, sporran (with belt) = $35, Hose (soccer type) = $5-$8. We can staple ribbon and use rubber bands for flashes, they use their own shirt and bow tie..... Bottom line, for the real penny pincher, he could have visually presentable evening attire, non-rental for around $150.00

I think I can convince them to go for it!

Of course, I would know what they were! But the photos, should be striking!

Fellow Freemasons - What do you think?
