With L&M you can custom order your sporran but the maple leaf is unavailiable. This beaver is selling it's self.

I'm going to have to go with the Arylabeast.
Perhaps I just prefer the look of the cantle/tassels on that one.

I really do not think it would be too much for some of our dressy nights, I think it would look very good with the jacket and waistcoat that you have ordered, I am waiting for delivery of a sealskin sporran, while I wont wear it to our pub nights, I will wear it to any of our semi formal to formal events. I also think that the beaver sporran would be best for you as it will be perfect for Burns night, Christmas etc.

I've sold L&M's Canadian beaver sporran before (yes, we have some Canadians down here in NC), and so I've seen it (and felt it) in person. You will not be dissapointed if you choose that one. I beleive my exact thoughts were, "Gee, I'd get this in a heartbeat if I were Canadian!"

It is a dressier sporran, and if you are looking for something that you can get by with more casually, may I humly suggest one of the beaver sporrans from our Ferguson-Britt line?

I have the Glengyle beaver model myself (read a review and see pics on my blog) and enjoy it for both formal and casual wear. I think the all leather cantle makes this one work for more casual occasions. In fact, I wore it today with my Mull tartan kilt, white golf shirt, and lovat blue hose.

And, just to close, people really like to pet beaver fur. ;-)

    Aye,
    Matt

I do like this one Matt but as we all realized as the beer commercial said "I Am Canadian. Bear in mind that with my new Newsome and my new Braemer from USAKilts on order, I figured it's about time I bring some (much needed) class to SOKS. For those Acrylabeast supporters let me say that because of the rampant lion cantle and me not being scottish it would have cost me an extra $35 to get a different cantle, thus putting it closer toward the price of the beaver. For those interested it will be coming from L&M Highland Outfitters. they do not sell directly to the public but CCK and I believe Matt Newsome are suppliers and they come highly recommended.

I'm not sure any of us want to know the circumstances under which you claim to have eaten beaver. That aside - I do like the beaver over the acrylabeast.

I Just picked up a beaver pelt. What a beauty! And looks like the face will pop out well into a mask. I'm looking forward to the experiment. I vote for the beaver over acrylabeast, Grant. The feel of the fur is like nothing else. And no greenhouse gases were produced in the manufacture of the fur.

Ah yes I did check out your sporrans, very tempted especially at that price. But this sporran just speaks Canadian. That and I don't eat badger yada, yada, yada (please ignore ramblings).

The beaver fur looks a lot like the buffalo fur on my custom sporran from Miss April's Carpetbags. I find myself absentmindedly petting the sporran a lot. Very soft fur. Have had some comments about the appearance of the patch of fur worn in the proper sporran position though. A conversation starter for sure.
