So, um, with no belt, how do you hold your sporran up?

I'm guessing you perhaps use sporran hangars? An interesting innovation, but not for formal wear.

Having piped at numerous weddings, I can state that nearly all hire shops supply a belt with a prince charlie, and this makes the vest sit too high and generally spoils the look of the outfit, I often find that the people with vests and belts are the ones with laces up their hose like a roman centurion
