Not true. While the quality might be different..the basics pieces are the same. Nobody is buying and wearing brown pants because the tux rental places rent black ones (as an example).

The point is, tux rental places don't always recommend the most appropriate dress. It's not unusual for them to encourage customers to rent attire that is more expensive yet not what is usually worn, especially to those who don't know any better.

OK, you've lost me. If we are talking black tie tux what are they renting that is not appropriate? In general I think a tux rental is basically the same as a bought tux, save for the quality of the outfit. Not being a smart a**, I honestly don't understand what your getting at.

You must not be familiar with younger guys going to their first formal events.

I've got 3 pairs of off white hose, a pair of black, pair of dark blue, and pair of maroon/burgundy hose.

The white ones were cheap, 3 pairs cost me the same as one of my other pairs of hose. thus why I own 3 pairs.

Well when I was everyone else was wearing powder blue and peach tuxes, I insisted on mine being black. So it's possible I don't . Today my contact with young guys being dressed in formal attire is for weddings and usually when I have had input into their outfits. but what I'm alluding to with the white hose/rental kilt argument is I don't see an equivalent argument in the tux industry. Whether in a rental or a bought tux most men are happy to show up looking pretty much the same(there is an old joke about that). Now maybe since the tux rental industry is bigger than the kilt rental industry it can have more options in the accessories. I don't know.

I can only assume this is meant as some type of compliment that we here in the golden state have a keen eye for color and can differentiate what works colorwise without other bias or predisposition.

Or perhaps you mention that because I, like so many Californians, have an easy time freely speaking my mind.

I should hate to think that you are making some sort of political, social, or racial statement. That would be rather unbecoming for a member of our forum.

As a native Californian, I am most proud of our State for a wide variety of reasons. I shall take your words kindly as everything I say I speak as a true Californian.

I don't have any white hose. I wear some quality cream ones with my P.C. rig and I have a pair tea died pipers hose because I couldn't get them in cream. I usually wear the cream with a kilt that has light colors like my Clark and then usually when I'm wearing ghillie brogues. It makes the laces stand out.
