It sounds like I should just move the straps and be done with it...
Another question... how wide should the apron be?

***DISCLAIMER***
I have never done this but until an experienced person chimes in...
firstly you mention a 10" drop difference between your PV and wool. I'll asume that you wear the pv at your hips. The wool sounds like it's more traditional fitting, that is it should be worn about 2" above the navel. try it on at that point. How does it fit now? It should fit tighter (let's face it we're all getting older.
Now if you still have to take it in you do so at the buckles. Moving both toward the centre of your back 1-2" will adjust it by that much (anymore adjustment needed than that you're pretty much outta luck). Just unstitch those puppies and stich them back on the needed distance. Stitch 'em on good and solid or else nobody will need to ask the question . Now this for me is a little hazy, and I ask for someone to correct me if I'm wrong. That strap on the left inner apron will have to be removed and restiched on top of the inner apron the same amount that you moved your buckles. Kilt maker please do chime in now! As for the size of the apron it's probably correct my kilts are roughly half pleat, half apron.

Well, welcome to Colorado a little early! If you happen to come through Denver, let me know!

Are you in Denver? I went to my first KiltNight the other night, and had a great time... looking forward to the 27th (Global Kilt Night) at the Squealing Pig in Cherry Creek!

27th? Crap. My kid's halloween party is that night. Otherwise, I'd hooligan with the lot of you. And yeah, I'm in Denver.

Yeah, I don't know who picked the date for Global Kilt Night, but for future reference we shouldn't have it so close to a "party holiday"

OK... here are some pics... you'll have to forgive them, it was last minute and self-photo taking is not my particular hobby!

Judging by the last shot (it seems pretty low angle) The bottom of the kilt is at the bottom of the knee. Try it at mid knee or top of the knee. But yes it does look quite big on you. Here in Canada it was winter when my kilt didn't fit. By tucking my wool sweater in it helped greatly. I guess you don't have that option in Denver (do you?).

Grant is right about moving the right buckles, and the part about the left strap sounds right ... but looking at the pleats, my advice would be to contact one of the kiltmakers here (Matt Newsome, Barb, Rocky, MacHummel) or a local kiltmaker (if you can find one), and see if the horizontal length can be shortened by modifying the deep pleat or adding a hidden pleat towards the underapron. They should also be able advise on possibly shortening the kilt slightly - maybe what's below the last yellow stripe in the overcheck.
And to my eye, the width of the overapron looks like it could be left alone, or narrowed slightly. (Wouldn't it be nice if everything but the length could be fixed by narrowing the aprons?)
But I'm just a talented amateur. Like Grant said, get in touch with one of our professionals.

Thanks Wompet! Any of the kiltmakers here have any idea? I don't know of any kiltmakers in the Denver area, the closest one may be Kathy in Albuquerque!

Or just click on the link Grant provided, like I should have done before typing all that.
