Hearty congratulations to Ron. Dee, please pass along this bit of chorister's lore: Nothing is more comfortable under one's cassock than a kilt. When the heat and humidity kick in, even a wool kilt is surprisingly cool.
You look pretty good, considering. Ron looks like he has good stamina, which will serve him well in days to come.

Dee, tell your partner that we can start a collection and get an all black box pleated kilt made for him. This should look great with his clerical collar.
Please pass along Anna's and my congratulations, we know that this is a long process and not easy.

Both looking very sharp.
Please pass on congratulations to Ron from Ann and myself; it was a pleasure to meet Ron earlier in the year.

He's now clergy with the Apostolic Catholic Church in North America (known as CACINA for short). They follow almost the exact teachings as the Roman Catholic Church (which they broke with a number of decades ago) but are a bit less conservative with the interpretation. I am ignorant of such church history but it's my understanding that the only real difference in doctrine is whatever the "big" issue that caused the split of the Roman and Eastern Orthodox churches was. Let's not go there here.

Your sporran is where now?

I've actually been wondering about that since the jacket thread that discusses all the varieties of jacket. I'll have to re-read it.

Thank you Hamish. Hopefully Ron will be able to make the trip with me although with his teaching schedule it may not be until the Storrington Gathering that we will see you together.
Thank you all from the both of us for your congratulations and well wishes. They are greatly appreciated. This is a journey that Ron first set foot on forty years ago as a novitiate in the Bazilian Order of the Roman Catholic church in Canada. After much thought and reflection he decided it was not right for him at that time so changed paths. I have to say I'm glad he did as our paths would never have crossed and we wouldn't have the many blessings in both our lives that we have now - including each other. Ok, Ok. [/sappy]
As I have been learning over the last two years this is not just his journey but OUR journey. Sometimes I'm brought along kicking and screaming but at all times I wholeheartedly support him in this. Ok, Ok. I said [/sappy] but I lapsed back into it.
Thank you all again and I'm off back upstairs to the housefull of company from two countries that are here for several more days. I could use a dram or two as well.

My congratulations to Ron. I trust I'll meet him when you finally make it up to Canada and I'll try to mind my p's & q's. But please Dee, bring a sporran. We can't have any faux pas like that up here, McMurdo's just graduated from kilt police college .

Congrats to your friend! I've been an ordained minister since August myself. It's not a religious ordingation- just a secular one- but since I'm pagan and don't belong to a church, I had to it that way. I've actually been thinking about starting my own coven. I'm a neo Druid, though, and I don't know of any others in Denver. I've had to study online through the Magica Scool of Witchcraft. That's the problem with pagan faiths- a lot of them come from the Celts, and are very uncentralized as a result. That is after all why the Romans were able to dominate the Celts for hundreds of years- the Celts were fiercely individualistic and just couldn't unite. I guess the whole point here is that even though my ordination isn't religeuos, I still take it very seriously and am very proud of it, so I can imagine all the work your friend put into his.

I really like your choice of kilt pin! Just the thing to keep your mind in the right place!
Congratulations to your mate.
