I think the lady KNEW that you were not involved in Iraq/Afghanistan, but, rather a war from some time past...and she, like all of here, proclaim THANK YOU!

I often wonder what that generation now thinks??? I'm sure if many could, they would retract their earlier statements, or actions...I hear nothing but praise for our soldiers now and it stems from parents from that era...Perhaps it is their way of making amends...I personally have nothing but gratitude to all our soldiers or anyone that served their country well...Thank you for taking it on the jaw Don...You are a hero and a testiment in my book.

It is nice to see that people have learned that the soldiers are not the ones responsible for war. That has been one good lesson that came out of the Vietnam era.

I do belive that all of the current flag waving and support our toops banners are displayed more out of guilt than gratitude.

For me, my country didn't start to offer any reconition until I'd been home for over 10 years.
I'm an 18th century guy born into the 20th century and have been dragged kicking and screaming into the 21st century.

For exactly the reason you think, that story touched me too. Thanks for sharing.

I had begun to wonder about my true motives for posting the story, until I read your post. Thanks.
