Well tell your sister congratulations, and tell us how it went when you get back. Travel safe and have a good time. By the way I'm with you I enjoy the kilt immensely but don't know if I am up the facing the airport in one yet.

Thanks. I will make and post a list of things I think would help with flying kilted, just from thinking about it. It's not just about the kilt, it's about making the whole thing not such a hassel.

I tried to ask my inner curmudgeon before posting, but he sprayed me with the garden hose…
Yes, I have squirrels in my brain…

Perhaps some of our vendors address and offer as an option a flying friendly (read security freindly) kilt. I know Steve at FK built Dreadbelly a casual with no metal.

I'm thinking that strapps and buckles need to be changeable without killing the kilt at least. There's been times I wish I could swap the black straps for brown on my BK kakhi anyway.

I've flown kilted from Chicago to Dallas and Boston to Toronto. No problems, except that the metal buckles on my SWK Saffron, (since they couldn't be removed) set the metal detector off, and so I had to get wanded...unfortunately for me it was a new TSA agent, so he was learning...at least I gave him a story to tell others about!

Many of us have traveled far and wide kilted with no more difficulty than if we'd been wearing trousers -- and with a lot more comfort.

Give it a try when you have more time to plan. There's been a lot of discussion on the subject of flying kilted, so, when you have the time, there's lots of good stuff here for you to read.

A kilt would not be a problem that I can see. BUT...once I had to be pulled aside and especially searched all because of...an underwire bra causing the alarm thing to go off!!

Ya, that happens sometimes I guess. I've had to re pack a couple of times because of different worries and stuff. I guess I'm going out the door now, so I'll tell you about it in a couple of days. Take care.

Are you prone to carrying underwire bras in your kit as well?

Speaking from experience = USA Casuals travel just fine! Did it from California to Florida, and the next morning in Florida, after hanging up in the closet, it looked fine.

Try it, you'll like it. No metal buckles, but leave the sgian dubh at home.
