Cross dressing? Well, people who call it a skirt make me cross, and if they persist after being corrected, they just might end up with wounds that need dressing.
I've posted this before but I'll edit it this time since it bother some last time...
I was (sort of) accused of cross dressing once.
I was at a concert and someone yelled "Hey fa****, nice skirt!"
I calmly responded, "First off, it's a kilt. Second, I'm more of a man than you'll ever be. And third, I'd hate for you to have to tell your friends that you got your a** kicked by a fa**** in a skirt."

They say it's cross-dressing because they're ignorant.
My own father hates the kilt, or just doesn't care, yet he's very Irish and proud of it. Hypocrite? I don't know. but some are hard to get the point across with.

I was accused of cross dressing by my narrow-minded neighbor who is my brother's mother-in-law. She was wearing jeans and a man's Dickey's shirt!
I won't get into it but the result wasn't pretty...

No way could kilt wearing be called crossdressing. Only once a young drunk came up to me in Galashiels and asked me if I was a transvestite, when I was wearing a traditional kilt (only a few yards away from the old Lochcarron factory!!) but I treated him with the contempt he deserved, pretended I hadn't heard and walked on. Some of the non-traditional kilts are, from my own perception as a native Scot, more like cargo skirts than my long held idea of what constitutes a kilt, but even so they are obviously men's garments, with their thick, rough, material and big cargo pockets which certainly would not flatter a female figure. I wear non-trad kilts quite often and have never been accused of cross dressing while wearing them. There is a company in England which makes unpleated denim cargo skirts for men with zip fly fronts and even when wearing one of these the very few comments I have had have all been positive and all have referred to it as a kilt. Anyway my wife wears trousers every day and I wouldn't want to dress in the same clothes as my better half.

I guess I'm fortunate the only people who have ever called it a skirt, or made jokes about cross dressing are my co-workers who are just giving me some good natured ribbing. I don't come across as one to be made fun of, so I have not had to deal with any public ridicule. I normally get questions from those who are truly curious, and appreciative of other cultures.

I don't recall ever being accused of cross dressing. Some people have, out of ignorance, not malice, referred to it as a kilt. I try not to get too bent out of shape by it, but what can you expect from drunk college students?
I have, however, been on the receiving end of jokes about my girlfriend wearing the pants in the relationship, but it was meant in good humour.
However, since I'm a large, flaming redhead with a similarly flaming red beard, it's difficult for anyone to presume me to be of a non-masculine bent.
