Update
Well, I went out today to see just how good the vision really was.
You have to take into account that before the surgery, I couldn't see the chart from 1/2 distance. In fact, I really couldn't see the physical chart (one of those jobs on a stand that are backlit). Vision was nothing-light/dark was about the limit of it.
I went out last night with the Significant Other, noting that I could see much better and the night blindness was essentially gone.
Today's trip proved that I can see significantly better and I feel 'safe' about driving again.
Don't get me wrong, that eye is still blurry and straight lines don't look straight at all (that's strange!?! ) but the vision is improving.

You know, when the doctor looks down into my eye..., he tells me that "HE" can't see anything. Da ha ha ha ha ha ha. Sorry.
I tried to ask my inner curmudgeon before posting, but he sprayed me with the garden hose…

My wife had cataract surgery on both eyes and I had lasik. Both of us still have some of the "corona effect, but I have to concentrate to really notice it. Ours was several years ago.

some info-
I wanted to let all of you know that the vision is improving and the discomfort is lessening. the sand in the eyes feeling is almost gone.
The 'corona effect' is really like I see the corner of my glasses off the the outside, even if I'm not wearing them. Supposedly it's the reflection off of the corner of the implant. I can learn to live with it.
I wanted everyone to know that I had a cataract only in one eye. The other is 20/30 w/o glasses and 20/20 with. It's still amazing how much more I can see with the cataract gone.
Thanks for all the kind words and I will be at the Burns supper, Alan. You couldn't keep me away with wild Clydesdale stallions! My mouth's already watering at the thought of single malt, haggis, neeps and tatties!
