It's pretty simple to join. Just go to their website and you can join online. I've been a member for a few years now. It's hard to get things like thread count unless you're a member or know someone who is.

Thanks, davedove and everybody, I have to go by the thread count to know what a tartan looks like cause I'm blind. The other information is kind of neat too.

Amazing. Wonderful information that I will most certainly be able to run with as soon as I decipher all the color codes. A million thanks to you, Steve.

Ok... a search of the forum for "color code" and "thread color code" has turned up nothing. A google for the terms "tartan color code," "tartan thread color code," and thread color code," has turned up small bits of info.
I'm stuck on the color that "A" signifies. "GO," "PH," and "TK" also elude me. Although, if the thread count sequence is compared to the color sequence, the PH corresponds to the 7th and 15th colors, both of which I think are both the same shade of blue.
Ultimately, all of this has led me to a bit of a conumndrum. Given what Steve found on the STA site, I see no mention of the red, yellow, or white at all. Additionally, the order of the colors doesn't seem to jive. Any ideas what's up?

I'm pretty sure that you would have to go back to the STA to get that color key. I am thinking about joining just to look at thread counts because of the issue I mentioned in my other post. I don't know anything about the other things. Good luck let us know what you find out.

"GO" gold.
"PH" looks like a magenta or purple.

I don't know what you would call all the colors. I would say that you should pick colors that match the tartan:

Now THAT version looks quite a bit different from the on I posted earlier. Thanks. I'm just gonna try to break it down.
