kilt jackets have been cut from all sorts of fabric-- including hounds tooth, Prince of Wales check, and lord knows what else. Go for it. At the end of the day it'll put you a cut above the rest of the crowd in their cookie-cutter clothes.

I think bespoke tailoring is the only way to get anything other than the "rent-a-kilt" look these days. Hmm. Gives me the inkling of an idea... Hong Kong tailors, anyone?

Ok, so I did it. I got the basic thing all sewn up, and now I just have to add the epauettes and possibly cuffs. Photos to come later....sorry about not posting the original jacket photo.

No, I actually did it in one day! Right now it's a crail jacket, but I'm thinking of adding the cuff to make it a Balmoral jacket.

Why not? You've got that extra material, might as well use it.
