Kilt Turkey have you thought of a day trip to Pottery Road outside of Seagrove, NC

I was in central NC last summer and spent some time in the Seagrove area. There are a large number of potter in the area. You should be able to find or commission what you are looking for.

Thanks cacunn,
My girlfriend is gonna visit me next month and thats a great idea for a place to go see, as I like to go on day trips on my days off. I have not heard of them before, but I am very happy to see them. Now all I need to do is find a smithy.

I'm glad you are finding some information on local potters, Kilt Turkey. I know you saw that post that I removed about working with someone from a highschool and as TheKiltedWonder said, college ceramics program. I think you would be happyier if you can pick the pieces up and feel their balance and weight. Kind of kick the tires so to speak, and you never know, you might meet a potter out of the blue and work directly with him or her.
Good luck and enjoy your visit with your girlfriend. Good luck with the iron work, I don't know anything about that, LOL!

I tried to ask my inner curmudgeon before posting, but he sprayed me with the garden hose…
Yes, I have squirrels in my brain…

If Weasel Mender can't help. There appears to be two blacksmiths in your general area, one in Clayton and the other in Smithfield, that you might want to check out.
