I'd call it my "ghillie kilt" but people would expect me to have twigs and leaves stuck to it!

Congratulations! Tweed is nice.
I tried to ask my inner curmudgeon before posting, but he sprayed me with the garden hose…

Nice kilt - but I suspect that your little problem with the fell is due to insufficient width and if you sew it down at the same measurement it might pull out again, or if it holds, cause slight damage at the end of each pleat.
If you look critically at the photos there is a slight but distinct expansion at the lower edge of the fell. A little more width there and it will smooth out.
I suspect that you did not add enough ease to the actual body measurement, but if that is the first attempt I can't wait to see subsequent projects, you do seem to have quite a talent.

Good deal! Looks great. I'm inspired, I've got some fashion plaid kicking around and I think I'll get to work. Hey where did you get that sporran?, it looks pretty nice.

Thanks! I know there's something there that needs working on, and I appreciate both the advice and the compliment!

That is a Tasmanian Devil from R-Kilts. It is gorgeously made of black and distressed bronze leather, with a key ring, a credit card pocket and enough volume to swallow Manhattan. It's the sporran I actually use.

Good Job. It's a neat satisfaction one gets when you can wear an article of clothing and then tell people you made it. I love the tweed. I actually like how the pleats are not pressed. It gives it more of a "Gillie working kilt look" (well at least to me)
Wear in good health and good luck with the next kilt (oh yes there will be a next one... making them is all most as addictive as wearing them!)
