I'm thinking that if you add a jabot and some silver buttons, they'll be too awestruck to question the satin trim.

I don't know that it'll work for Burn's night. It has some work to go.
Silver buttons, yes. Epaulettes. Maybe you could cover the satin trim with some black braid?

I think you would not want to try and pass it off as a PC. That is wear the problem would come in,

    but

if you were to wear it more casually. No vest, standard tie, maybe some satiny flashes to tie the lower part of the outfit with the upper part, and if the wife is wearing a satiny black dress you would coordinate. In this context it's simply a high waisted jacket that is intended to be different from a PC, Argyle or Breamer (or even the Brian Barou). You are not trying to blend with the $800 PC crowd but blending styles, lord knows this crowd is not above a bit of blending I would change the satin buttons though and put some subdued pewter buttons on.

I think it would do fine with formal wear, especially if the buttons were replaced with diamond-shaped "silver" or pewter buttons on both the chest and cuff, especially if you wear it where Western clothes are common. Some black cord epaulettes would not be out of place either. Who says we all have to wear cookie cutter jackets?

I don't know about a lace jabot and cuffs. They are usually worn with doublets, not with jackets like this one.
