The coat of arms part makes sense. Just look at the adverts on this page. USAK and SK have made it into logo material. The shield quartered could be backgrounded in two tartans and to self colour diagonal, crested with clan belt circum business name. Ouch, my creative side of my brain is overheating.

How bout a crest like logo? Take a leather belt in a circle with the globe inside and some latin in the crest saying something like "Comfort is universal" (levamentum est omnimodus) or "Freedom is Universal" (libertas est omnimodus)
This conveys the point that you don't have to be Scottish to wear a kilt, and how comfortable and empowering they are.
Just an idea.

Might I humbly suggest that rather than a parody of heraldry (tartan quarters* and kilts rampant, knotted) you sit down with someone extremely knowledgable and devise something that you can be proud of? I would advise you to seek out personal arms and use these in conjuction with your business endeavour.
(*commercial arms are most often divided parti-per-cross, not quartered, depending on the whim of the herald)

I say at least use heraldry to create a logo.

So many great ideas but I’d still like to offer my two cents. A logo or trademark should be unique and the best are recognizable and even trusted by the public when seen.
Take a look at what you want people to see or notice about you and your business. Perhaps you just want the store name to look differently or be combined with some image or design. And that design can be whatever, maybe the initials of the store, M.P. but in a standard shield, maybe a Mormon shield.
I think of a few examples, Apple Computers (the little apple); catchy, simple, nothing about Apple as a business but it just makes sense. Playboy and its rabbit, again simple, nothing about its business but an international symbol and known world-wide.
