Actually that is incorrect. He was ordained as a Congregationalist Minister, as was his grandfather and uncle. There is some record that he may have been "defrocked" later due to his moral conduct....

(revised edition 1975), pages 65-67:" Lyman Hall was one of the four signers [of the Declaration of Independence] originally trained as ministers."
Hall, was also a physician, and eventually Judge and Governor of Georgia

It's funny, I go through Paisley to get the train to Wemyss Bay every time I am heading to Rothesay (twice a year at least) and I just realised I have never spent much time at all there. Thanks for the pics Alex, very nice.
