Thanks for the tips. I haven't worn them yet, I am waiting on my weathered Gunn kilt from Stewart Rendall. I do know from personal experience that men's boots tend to be rougher on socks. Maybe its the way we tend to stomp around in boots. LOL

I wear 4 pairs of shoes, frequency in this order. Stomping around in boots is a forte of mine.
    1. Rubber wellies with pirate skulls on them
    2. Suade Keds
    3. Combat boots, mil issue
    4. mary jane flats which are my only "nice" shoes

If my addiction to boots and frequency of wear are any indicator, the socks should hold up reasonably well, although they are not indestructible by any means.

    Well done!

I suspect they will wear well. I have several pairs of Wigwams in merino, and they seem to be as durable as the old ragg wool ones. The soft outer surface gets snagged a bit more, perhaps; but my feet reeealy like them.

I may try to figure out how to knit the soles in a different, tougher yarn.

The cuff has stags' heads knit into it. (sorry for the washed out shot)

And don't forget the next time you knit a pair of these hose use woolly nylon in the heel and toe to reinforce.
