You mean the "emergency base-layer winter underwear?"

For sock liners, I'd highly recommend the polypro: they breathe ever so much better. A sock liner can be a great thing for comfort and blister protection.

However, do keep the EBWU when you can get them: cut off a leg to roll a kilt for travel!

When in cold weather, I use thin socks under hose - all other times, I don't use them.

Thanks to this thread, I tried it (sock liners) today, and it seemed to work well. I can't say definitely better, but I'll try it again tomorrow when it's supposed to be 70+ F here.
