It's politically incorrect to say that the happy medium begins with parental supervision and discipline.
When I was young we had curfews and did not rove around the streets in gangs at night and a clip around the ear was not construed as an assault.
There was no loud music because the little gramophones we had were incapable of making much noise.
I know that every generation can look back to the "good old days" of their youth" and compare them with the present.
But maybe the equation has overbalanced.
