Will have to recce it again on my next Edinburgh trip.

I note that they are selling John Morrison 5 yard kilts and the page is exactly like the Gold Bros web page except the prices are over 90% higher. Perhaps Messrs Gold figure that there are some poor deluded folk who think these kilts are superior because they paid GBP259 for them! Same product on yet another GoldBros site GBP117

    Caveat Emptor!

Which would account for why they deny the site is theirs. If anyone did a comparison they wouldn't pay that much. It might not be theirs but it looks like they took their stuff and just jacked up the prices.

I picked up a nice pin striped Crail jacket & waistcoat in Geoffrey tailors in Edinburgh at the Royal Mile shop last year. We made friends with the sales lady and after about an hour she went downstairs to the storage room and brought up the jacket & waistcoat in my size and said it had been custom made for a customer that never came for it and that it was on sale, I paid $125.00 for both. Still is the best buy I ever made!

    Welcome A,

You can have any two of price, quality, or service. Sadly, there are many "sharks" marketing Scottish related goods. Some cheap goods, some middlemen with little or no stock just passing on orders for a fee.

Best way to wise up and avoid being burned is to use the search feature on this board and exchange good and bad info with the rest of us as you're doing here.

And, best way to buy a kilt is directly from the kiltmaker who's gonna sew it up rather than from a storefront...unless the kiltmaker works out of a store of course.

With a wary start like this you'll do fine.

hello and a warm from Boston, Massachusetts
You have already made the best start- - -just by posting on this board. Many people here put their true feelings on these threads. -As some of the kilt makers that both advertise and post here will tell you, the truth really reigns high here.
Welcome to ye rabble of the Highlands of X-Marks.
