I don't believe you will need a special needle, but the fabric will be horribly expensive.

Not a bad idea (taking over the world), but the kevlar can be good for protecting the sensitive areas

There is a company over here called Draggin Jeans, they make jeans and pants with Kevlar lining for motorcycle riders. (They are an alternative to leathers, but look like normal pants.)
They once made a Kevlar bikini (for promotional use). I wonder if they would make a Kevlar kilt!? It would seem a good idea for their promo tours, a pretty girl in a Kevlar bikini to attract the men, and a handsome young man in a Kevlar kilt to attract the women. I might suggest it to them!
(Although I wouldn't want to put a Kevlar kilt through this, their normal demonstration!)

Oh no!!!
If I'd only paid attention to kilts earlier.
There used to be a guy who hand wove Kevlar - I assume for protective clothing for either the police force or the military - he had a workshop just a short drive away from here, but it is long gone.
The loom could have easily woven a kilt length, though the yarn was a rather unattractive yellowish colour.
I presume to dictate to no man what he shall eat or drink or wherewithal he shall be clothed."

Barb's book is intransit to me, so I'm looking forward to the new appendix as well. I'll be stalking the postal carrier starting on Monday *G*
I've also downloaded the XKilt handbook. I have my sewing machine all ready to drop off for an overhaul, but I'll probably hand stitch most of the Marine!Goth's kilt(s?). I love to do handsewing of all kinds.

Bumping this again.
I am not the brightest sewer in the box but would really like to fumble my way through a quality hand sewn kilt. Speaking of hand sewn. I need some good instruction on the hand sewing part. I am probably doing the wrong stitch as it seems to pull the material at an angle.

More expensive than Scottish wool?
