What type of baskethilted sword are you ordering? I looked at their site and didn't see any Scottish baskethilts.

Regulation Pattern Broadsword

I am ordering the current pattern broadsword, with non-military etching to the blade. I will probably opt for a civilian scabbard as opposed to the metal scabbard used on the military pattern sword. (The steel scabbards used to cost the earth when I was at Wilkinson.)

We're getting away from the original subject, which was if people might be interested in getting together on an order. I have to say that I am, but am still a starving student, so can't do so any time soon. Check with me this time next year, I should be in the regular work force by then.

It Ain't Gonna Be Cheap
The cost for a broadsword, with full civilian etching on the blade (including your name), and the proper leather scabbard (not a military Sam Browne scabbard) is going to be US $1500.00 plus shipping and insurance. A discount (to be determined, but probably about 10%) will be available if five or more swords are ordered at the same time.
Because swords are made by hand, it is more cost effective at the factory (located about 25 miles outside of London) to make the swords in batches rather then in single orders.
Hands up, those of you with deep pockets and the desire to own simply the best broadsword made in the UK.

I'm thinking very hard and leaning towards a yes. When do you need to put in the order?

I'd like to put in the order by the end of the month, it that works for everyone.

That should give me enough time to come up with reasons why I need one.

You can probably count me in, if you get the five; but, despite the makers' reputations, I'd like to see an example of what it is I'm buying first. As you know, the baskets have different designs to them; so, I want to know what it looks like or whether I have a design choice. Did they send you a pic?

Egah! My 1897 pattern infantry officer's sword didn't cost that much when I bought it. Of course, it didn't have any more engraving than was necessary by regulation. That was also back in the late 70's.
Did I get a discount as a serving member of Her Majesty's Armed forces?
