Aye, it's nice to see photos of "the Land of Taney (County)" that bear a resemblance to the land before Branson became such a tourist mecca -- now if they could only bring back the White River. <sigh>

    Thanks for the concern

Good to hear about all the people who's heritage of the Ozarks gives them a connection to this beautiful place. While there are a lot of things I am unsatisfied with living in the Springfield area, the scenery of Southern Missouri and Northern Arkansas can always make me pause to admire its gorgeous rolling hills. Thanks for all the concern about the accident! I guess I will post details so you all will know that everything is well. Anyway, the accident wasnt that big of a deal. I was following my girlfriend (who was driving her car), and she cut into traffic. I followed suit but had to speed up to get around someone and as soon as I cut into the left lane traffic up ahead completely died. I was on one of the steepest hills in Branson and I ended up locking up my rear break and was riding that out but getting no closer to stopping. Finally, as I approached my girlfriends car I decided it was better to eat pavement than become a bumper sticker and I kicked the bike out from under me. I slid about 30 ft, the bike about 45, made worse by the outrageous hill. Her car stopped my bike and I slid to a stop. I'm fine. I was wearing full protective gear. I wont get into the age old motorcycle argument on gear, but I am sure glad after seeing my jacket and my unharmed upper body, that I was wearing the proper gear. I have a little roadrash on my knee. The bike will take 30 bucks to repair (I got lucky) and I owe my girl a new bumper. Luckily I used to work in a body shop and my friend who owns it came and picked up my bike and told me he'd take care of the damage to her car. Things turned out a lot better than the could of. I should have been a bit more cautious on unfamiliar roads, but he accident happend at no more than 35 mph. I wish I could have prevented the accident, and looking back I see that I could have done somethings differently, but hey you live and learn.

First, those are wonderful pictures. It looks like a beautiful place to be and it seems like you and your girl had a fantastic hike.
I'm sorry to hear about your bike but supremely glad that you are O.K. It must have been a pretty scary experience.

Yeah, I remember going to Silver Dollar City shortly after it was opened. Back then, Branson was just a small hill town, with only a couple of hotels and restaurants.
