Terry, to be honest the hose in the pics don't look that bulky. I think the Lewis hose that Matt sells look better.

Unfortunately the Accessories page on Steve's new website isn't up yet, but they are nice.

    Caddy One,
do you also have the Scottish Lion's $22 Piper's Hose, and were yours also wool-blend rather than the advertised acrylic?

    Thanks Chef

Yes, I like the Lewis hose & do plan to get a couple pairs (at least) in the future. Right now I need to purchase aprox 3 more pairs of hose, so I'll probably go with piper hose (found some wool blend ones for aprox $24 a pop), just as a stop-gap measure until I can afford the Lewis & Heritage hose (Steve over at Freedom Kilts sent me some pics of these).

I recall last year at our local games seeing Joe McIntyre (of Clan MacIntyre -- duh! ) wearing a nice pair of oatmeal colored wool Aran cable hose that were really thick!
I didn't get a chance to ask where he got them, but I'm sure it was on one of his many travels to Scotland.

Arlen's new bride knit hose? You might try there if String is backlogged.

If you check Diane's web page the first article talks about her ability to repair kilt hose. You resole shoes why not resole your expensive 100% wool kilt hose?

    Thanks Cacunn & Jake
I have thought of that option eventually, right now though I have to find a fairly quick (& modest priced) option. I'm really more partial to wool-blend, rather than acrylic-blend, however I found these at Scottish Lion for $22:

    Thoughts on acrylic hose?

    Thanks again

p.s. I've been on Diane's queue for a woad bonnet

I think wool is better but price does mean a lot. Since we are going into warmer weather (I hope) acrylic should be fine. I know some will only wear wool or wool blend but until I knit some more hose most of mine are acrylic because of cost.
