Yeah, LA is no longer the town that Raymond Chandler and Dashiel Hammet eulogized in the 30s'... more's the pity. Don't blame you for heading north...

Laso
Were you with the LASO?
That Saturday morning I was heading to the LASO academy to test, got lost and ended up going to Dodger stadium and onto the LAPD academy where I knew they tested every Saturday, I sometimes wonder where I would be now had I not gotten lost.

This Is The County...
Yeah-- I was with RFB from 1976 until 1985; after a stint with Admin I mostly worked plain clothes out of West Hollywood. Spent my last two years in Mounted Enforcement Detail (transferred in so I could get into the equestrian events at the LA Olympics ) loved being a county mounty, but packed it in when the job ceased to be fun.
Like I said before: Good Luck in your new career!

I really like that pin and even if you aren't in the police yet, it's good to honour those who are.
That said, what is that gorgeous tartan!

I like it!
Of course you realize, Jack Webb was one of the Few, The Proud.
During family day, before graduation from boot camp, they showed an informational piece for visitors that featured Jack Webb talking about the Corps.

But it explains why his film THE DI is so good.

Had read that about Jack Webb some time back...
Every Tuesday night late at work, as I take a break in my car & catch up on paperwork, I tune in a local radio station that plays old time radio shows, and one they feature is "Dragnet"

Police Kilt Pin
This is my Grandfather's retirement badge. I wear it as a kilt pin to honor his service as Police Officer in Washington, DC.

I was named after my Grandfather, geneologically and chronologically

After reading all this I dug out my old fire dept. badge. I guess I'll use it as a pin if it isn't too heavy.
Thanks for the idea.
