My first kilt is a Hector Russell that I picked up in Edinburgh off the ex-hire rack. I like it fine, it's an 11oz in Robertson Ancient Hunting. It's still very much in the shape that I bought it in. One thing I noticed is that the lining is not sewn in very well, just kinda tacked along the fell line (is that what you call it, around the hips?). There's no canvas backing or anything. I'd never have missed it except reading stuff from this forum, but now it strikes me as odd. That's perhaps what I get for buying an ex-hire kilt. The fabrics fine (looks really good actually) and all of that, but sometimes I'm a little worried about where I wear it because I keep wondering if it'll somehow start to wear out in places. I may be paranoid (partly due to the light weight, I'm sure I'm just over-sensitive), but I've been back in their stores a couple of times over the years, after I knew more about what to look for and just haven't been all that thrilled with 'em. Just my opinion.

I was doing a photo shoot in San Francisco and was parked up the street from the store. I passed by it every day for a week. Passed a few of well-kilted gentlemen strolling by the place.
Good-looking store. Worth a visit, I'd say.

Looks like the website is still under construction in places but good to see such an establishment offering Scottish made items.
Allowing for exchange rates etc the prices don't look too horrifically different from what you can pay in Scotland itself, especially when the dreaded VAT is taken out of the equation.

I actually visited this store a few years ago while in San Franscisco and staying in Union Square. It seemed like a nice shop but at the time didn't carry kilts. Glad to know they have expanded their horizons.
