Another question. I stated that I plan on wearing my kilt to prom, right? Is it alright to wear just the Tuxedo shirt without the coat?

I'd wear at least a vest with it. Tux shirts look a little odd without at least the vest.

A tux shirt with no jacket will look a bit odd. No money is a problem. Tell mom you will wash dishes for a month (or something like that) if she buys you a black Eton jacket like this (which costs only $35 plus shipping) :

    All Right!!

You're in for life now! Just wear and enjoy. Don't know that there are many kilt police loose in Texas, you should be just fine. Guess the dance is in an air conditioned venue even if its roasting outside.

Once you discover the power of kilts you'll be saving your pennies for the next kilt, and the next, and the next, and the next.

And, the nice thing about meeting new ladies kilted (if you're not locked in already) is you'll find the ones attracted to kilted men.

    Go, enjoy the freedom!!

Welcome from San Antonio. I've worn my SWK heavyweights and my tanks during the San Antonio summer, hot and humid, and have been fine. Walking or any breeze when standing still keeps things cool. I think you'd do better with at least a vest as mentioned but being the only kiltie you'll look good.

    Hey Richard,

There are some (gasp) costume shops in San Antonio. If any of them is serious, like for stage productions etc. You may be able to rent a nice kilt jacket from one of them. Unusual sure, but perhaps an answer for one night use of a kilt jacket.

Good day and welcome! I See my thread has already been linked! hehe. I will be wearing a SWK standard. I'll tell you after 3 years of marching band I love being kilted in the heat! we'd march all day and everyone would be hot and uncomfortable, not me! hehe

Stillwater is a great place to go for a starter kilt!
glad you've come to the enlightened side!
    happy kilt wearing!
    and have a good prom!
