Good for you guys. We have our local Relay for Life coming up on Saturday. This is my 3rd year as a Team Captain and my 5th as a a participant. I wore a kilt the first year, but have not worn one to the Relay since. I prefer to run part and walk the rest. I usually do a minimum of 4 hours of walking and spend the entire day out supporting my team. That first year I logged over 10kms and spent 80% of the day walking in support of a dear friend that was fighting Breast Cancer for the second time.
Over the past 5 years we have raised over $15,000 towards cancer research. One of the highlights of my year is working with the people that organize the Relay and in taking part in this great event.
I relay for my friend who fought breast cancer for 5 years before she finally lost her fight. I relay for my Nana who was diagnosed with lung cancer and was gone within months. This disease is bad enough, but to see a child battle it is devastating. I relay for all my friends and family members that have had their lives touched by cancer in someway, and I relay for karma and for my fortunate life and the health of my kids and my loved ones.
I do the Relay because I have a daughter for her future and for my mother in law because she is a survivor and Because community service is the hallmark of a good citizen.

Good work, bro. It's great to be involved in an event like the Relay. What time is your Relay? Ours is 10am to 10 pm, but the Vancouver one is 7pm to 7am...ouch.
